Back to the Cup and back to Anfield we go, our 4th round tie against Liverpool is the late afternoon kick off at 17:30. Hopefully we will get the same result as our last visit. Coming away deserved 0-3 winners.
Liverpool come into this game on the back of a Capital One Cup semi-final win over Stoke mid week winning the tie after extra time and then penalties. Liverpool have played 2 games a week since the start of the year and our game with them will be their 9th in the month of January. This will lead to more calls for a winter break from Klopp and other managers.
Since the last meeting between the 2 sides on the 2nd of January, Liverpool’s form has been quite up and down beating Norwich and Exeter drawing with Arsenal and Exeter while losing to Stoke and Manchester United.
With every Liverpool win the media like to tell us how they have now turned a corner and ready to push for the top 4 of the Premier League only to lose the next game. This suggests that the team are very inconsistant. With Jurgan Klopp in charge they still seem to be finding their way not really knowing how to play or get the best out of Striker Benteke. I think we will only see the best of Jurgen Klopp when he has a full off season in charge of the team and able to bring in players that he wants at the club. Today they are being linked with former West Ham target Hernandez.
West Ham United on the other hand after a disappointing result against Newcastle were able to bounce back with a very good performance against a Sergio Aguero inspired Manchester City in a 2-2 draw at Upton Park last weekend. The Newcastle game aside our form has been very good during January and with Aston Villa and Sunderland to visit in February gives West Ham the chance to really put pressure on the teams above us in the table. A great position to be in.
But as we all know the F.A Cup is not an easy one to predict with bigger teams playing weaker teams, this i feel has led to more smaller team getting to the final. In recent years Aston Villa, Hull City, Wigan Athletic, Stoke City and Portsmouth have all made the final. All but Wigan actully won the Final.
We have a little history with Liverpool in the Cup being robbed in the 2006 Cup final on penalties
Injury news from Liverpool is that Dejan Lovren could return to the defense while Nathaniel Clyne is also expected to return to the line up.
West Ham’s Andy Carroll will not be fit for the game against his former team neither will Manuel Lanzini or long term absentee Diafra Safko. Unfortunatly new signing Sam Byram is cup tied for tomorrows game.
I expect Liverpool to make alot of changes for the game. while i expect West Ham to be as strong as possible.
Predicted Line up
Liverpool : Mignolet, Randall, Lovren, Caulker, Clyne, Allen, Milner, Teixeira, Ibe, Lallana Benteke.
West Ham United : Adrian, Tomkins, Collins, Reid, Cresswell, Noble, Song, Kouyate, Payet, Moses, Valencia.
