What a performance on Wednesday! It looks like we may have unearthed a gem in Edimilson Fernandes. The QF draw could have been kinder, but confidence has certainly been resorted. On to Everton away…
Back in March, Aaron Lennon slotted home to make it 2-0 after 56 minutes and we looked down and out. Fast forward just over half an hour, Dimi scores to send us into raptures as we come back to win 3-2. Same again? We’re 7/2 with Betway to win the game and a whopping 28/1 to win by the same scoreline as last season. However, it might be worth noting that we’ve not won back-to-back league games against Everton since 1973.
One thing that will probably happen, and is certainly worth a few quid, is that Romelu Lukaku will score. He’s found the net eight times in ten games against us in all competitions, with six of those coming in the last six league meetings, which is no doubt why he is odds on at 3/4 to score anytime with our sponsors. If you fancy him for the first goal, it’s available at 3/1.
Ayew might not be sharp enough for a starting place, so Zaza may get the nod this weekend. Whoever starts up top, there’s no doubt they’ll get opportunities as Payet has created more chances in the Premier League this season than any other player, while no one has provided more assists than the Frenchman. Zaza and Ayew are available at 13/5 and 2/1 respectively to score anytime.
Our last league clean sheet against Everton came in 2007, a run of 16 games without one against them. With that in mind, it may be worth opting for the 11/5 on us in the Draw No Bet market. We’ve also conceded two or more goals in six of our last seven visits to Goodison Park in the Premier League, so for those looking for a bigger price, 2-2 is available at 11/1, whereas 3-3 is 33/1.
I do expect there to be goals and I just hope our defence stands firm against Lukaku and co. If someone offered me a point now I’d be tempted to take it, but, if we’re on top of our game on Sunday, there’s no reason why we can’t grab all three points as The Toffees are still hurting from that defeat at Turf Moor and haven’t tasted victory in over a month.
Good luck with your bets. COYI
