Leicester City V West Ham United 31/12/2016
We come to the end of the year with much to celebrate 10 points from our last 4 games means we can visit the Champions with confidence after 2 unconvincing wins at home to Burnley and Hull City we hit some better form and some goals last time out away to Swansea. Is the team starting to click? I don´t know, but i do feel the return up front of Andy Carroll is very much a major factor in our recent wins.
Leicester seem to be struggling at the moment and are in 16th place in the league 3 points from relegation and 5 points behind The Hammers with only 1 win in their last 6 games. This shows how unforgiving the Premier League is and how quickly it can change. Leicester of course are going great guns in the Champions League and have an exciting fixture against Sevilla coming up. Will this be a distraction I´m not sure.
Super Slavs men could not be going better up to 11th in the table and while the top 6 looks very much out of our reach at the moment anything else looks very much on. Put a cup run together and a good season is still there for the taking. With the January transfer window opening tomorrow there is every reason that we can find a RB and a striker to cover Carroll when he eventually breaks down again. Also any reinforcements needed while players go away to the African Cup of Nations.
Team news for the Champions is that star striker Jaime Vardy will be missing due to serving a 3 match ban but Robert Huth and Christian Fuchs both return from their one match bans. Mahrez should also return to the team after missing boxing day action.
Reece Oxford, and Sam Byram have returned to training but not in time for this game. But we welcome back midfielder Pedro Obiang after he missed the Swansea game due to suspension. Manuel Lanzini and James Collins have returned to the squad after recovering from knocks during the week. Gokan Tore and Diafra Sakho are both out.
Predicted Line ups :
Leicester City : Schmeichel, Simpson, Huth, Morgan, Fuchs, Mahrez, Amartey, Drinkwater, Albrighton, Slimani, Okazaki.
West Ham United : Randolph, Nordtveit, Reid, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Noble, Kouyate, Payet, Ayew, Antonio, Carroll.
I really don´t agree with changing a winning team, although i feel Obiang has done nothing wrong. It´s nice to have these kind of problems instead of having to play people out of position, because everyone else in injured. But i do not think Slav will replace Noble just yet. Lanzini I feel will be kept on the bench for now as well. Probably best to get the most out of Ayew while we can. I will predict we win this game 1-2 with Carroll again proving how important he is to us. Happy New Year everyone lets hope another 3 points will make it a good one.
