Some people, myself included may have been disappointed with our last result away to Sunderland. But I´m not sure many were surprised by us conceding a late goal and only coming away with a point. It´s just been that kind of season where we seem to struggle to get anything from the game. While putting ourselves in front twice it was a shame that we couldn´t hold on for the win. But 4 points from our last 2 games is not to be laughed at, and it´s 1 point closer to premier league survival.
While Sunderland were on a poor run of form the same can not be said for today´s opponents Everton who have managed 4 wins and a draw from their last 6 games, plus they have Lukaku who will probably get his 10th goal in as many games against us.
West Ham´s top 10 dream still remains, we are 3 points from 9th place and can still make a good finish to the season even with out difficult remaining fixtures. But with only being 9 points from the bottom and still 3 points away from the magic 40 point number we still have everything to play for.
Everton are flying high in 7th place just 3 points from a European place which I think will make them very motivated for this afternoon.
Unfortunately for West Ham this week injuries as always seem to be a problem and we will be without Tore, Ogbonna, Obiang, Antonio, and now Andy Carroll (again) while Noble and Byram will be missing due to suspension. But the good news is that Diafra Sakho has decided not to throw his toys out the pram this week and should be available to lead the line for us for only the 4th time this season. I used to love Sakho but I now have had enough of his tantrums, sulking and constant injuries and hope we move on from him in the summer.
Everton will be without West Ham player Enner Valencia, (shame) James McCarthy, (shame) Funes Mori, Bolasie, Coleman and Lennon which is a lot of injuries as well. But one of the things I like about Koeman is that he has introduced youth to his team during the season which has undoubtedly made their squad stronger without spending a great deal of money.
Predicted Line ups :
West Ham United: Adrian, Masuaku, Nordtveit, Reid, Collins, Fernandes, Kouyate, Lanzini, Ayew, Feghouli and Sakho.
Everton: Robles, Holgate, Williams, Jagielka, Baines, Davies, Schneiderlin, Gueye, Mirallas, Barkley and Lukaku.
I said previously that I had given up hope of an Adrian recall but after a dreadful performance it seems like its on the cards this week. Byram´s suspension leaves us short as always at RB I don´t like the idea of playing Kouyate there again so I have opted for the Norwegian. Hopefully he can contribute something this year. I also hope to see Feghouli get a start as I feel we need to attack and not just sit back as we are not very good at that.
I think the game will end 1-1 with Lukaku getting his goal and Ayew grabbing an equaliser. Another step to survival Triffic.
