Well things are looking much better now for the Hammers, nothing beats a good 3 points against London rivals especially that lot. The game went well from a West Ham point of view and keeping another clean sheet has me thinking why Adrian was not recalled sooner. Liverpool, our opponents are probably the next team I enjoy beating after Tottenham. So another 3 points would really finish the season in good style.
After our win we have jumped up to 12th in the league and it really is tight from 8th down to 14th. I´m not sure how much league position will hinder our ability to attract potential targets for next season but it can´t hurt. Not losing in our last 5 games has seen us crawl away from the relegation battle. But only the 2 wins from 6 suggest that we really are a middle of the table team. Capable of
beating most teams if we decide to turn up. Consistency has to improve next year.
Liverpool, under Klopp have had the same problem performing well against their rivals but failing to turn up when facing a team that is at the bottom half of the table. But they are in 4th place, hanging on by a point to that ever so valuable champions league spot. I´m sure Arsenal will be hoping we do them a favour in tomorrows game. They have lost only once in their last 6 games but like us they have a few too many draws and will probably be kicking themselves if they miss out again. (I´ll be laughing)
When it comes to injuries as usual we have lots with Andy Carroll missing again along with Kouyate and Mark Noble. Diafra Sakho now looks like a lost cause When Carroll misses a game I like to believe he is upset that he is not involved. With Sakho I get the feeling that he couldn´t give a monkeys and just doesn´t care. I might be wrong but his injury is now beyond belief for me.
Liverpool will give late fitness tests to Sturridge, Lallana, Firmino and Leiva.
Predicted teams :
West Ham United : Adrian, Fonte, Reid, Collins, Byram, Cresswell, Fernandes, Nordtveit, Lanzini, Ayew, Calleri.
Subs: Randolph, Rice, Quina, Ogbonna, Snodgrass, Flecther and Feghouli
Liverpool : Mignolet, Lovren, Matip, Milner, Clyne, Lallana, Can, Wijnaldum, Courtinho, Origi, Firmino
The last home game of the season should be enough motivation for the team to play at the level they did last game. It would also go along way to making the Stadium feel more like home. Then we can carry it over to next season. Unfortunately I don´t expect us to win this game not through lack of effort though but I think our injuries in midfield will hinder our chances. I have not been that impressed yet with Nordtveit. This is an area where Liverpool are strong and I expect them to do enough and probably win by the odd goal. I really hope I´m wrong.
