West Ham United
The good feeling we had after the midweek cup game seems like a long time ago now. Normal service was resumed with goal shy Crystal Palace managing to get 2 against us with the equalising goal coming in the 5th or 6 minute of injury time. There have been many people trying to place blame on one player or another, but the fact is you have to stay focused till the final whistle. This of course, is the basics.
Currently we are 16th in the table with 1 win in the last 6 games and 3 draws. 2 of them draws we have been winning with 10 mins to go. them 4 points would have had us half way up the table. This could be due to a lack of fitness or concentration. But whatever it is it needs to stop now. The squad is under performing at the moment and we need to start putting things right.
Liverpool return to the London Stadium probably looking to do what they managed last year, which was a 0-4 hammering without getting out of 2nd gear. But Liverpool are not playing quite as well as they did last year they have had some problems especially at the back where they can be vulnerable. Maybe a poor result for them tomorrow will have people talking about the opposition manager and not ours for a change. Liverpool are 6th in the league level on points with the mighty Burnley. They have managed to win just 2 of their last 6 games and seem ready to accept mid table already this year.
Sadly after a couple of injury free weeks we have managed to pick up a couple in the last few days with Antonio, Byram, Fonte all injured and Zabaleta out through suspension. Not sure on Sakho this week but as far as i know he feels like playing.
Liverpool have injury concerns of their own Wijnaldum, Lovren face late fitness tests and Mane is pushing for a place back in the team. Coutinho is out though. Probably trying to plan his way to Barcelona and out of Liverpool.
Predicted Line ups :
West Ham United : Hart, Fernandes, Reid, Kouyate, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Noble, Obiang, Lanzini, Ayew, Hernandez
Liverpool : Mignolet, Klavan, Matip, Moreno, Gomez, Can, Henderson, Milner, Firmino, Sturridge, Salah.
I think the only surprise in the team is that I have not put Carroll in the team. I think that we could have a decent partnership with Hernadez and Ayew and would love to see us keep attacking teams. Liverpool have been poor at the back and I want to see us take the game to them straight from kick off. But i will predict a very boring and cagey game with both teams cancelling each other out and for it to end 1-1, probably another late goal to deny us another 3 points. Lanzini to get our goal.
