The less we speak about last week the better, I think we should try our best to put it behind us and move on and focus on getting the points needed to stay out of the bottom 3. Teams around us are picking up points and we need to start doing the same. We have rallied once this season and now its time to do it again.
On the back of our last result you could argue that we are not in a great place and things have not been going our way. But form has not been terrible, 3 draws and a couple of wins suggest we are doing enough to tread water. But we can’t rest and need to get the points now. While we are up in 12th position, it may seem like we are safe but believe me we are not.
Watford was David Moyes first game in charge, lets hope for a different result this time around. Fresh of a 4-1 win against Chelsea they will be coming into the game full of confidence and probably thinking that we are going to roll over, they may be right but we have to remember Watford were also struggling for points before last Monday night. Three defeats and a couple of draws had Watford falling down the league lets hope we give them a bit more of a push.
The good news regarding the team is Arnautovic returns to the starting 11 and will hopefully provide a link between the midfield and Hernandez up front. Reid and Fonte are close to being back in the team but not quite ready for starting yet. Fernandes, Obiang, Carroll and Lanzini are all still injured. Masuaku obviously is still suspended.
Watford have an impressive injury list as well which I always like to see another team have. Gomes, Kaboul, Hughes, Chalobah and Cathcart are all out Cleverley and Deeney should return to the squad. I am pleased to see Gomes sidelined because he does usually play well against us.
Predicted Line ups :
West Ham United : Adrian, Zabaleta, Collins, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Antonio, Noble, Kouyate, Joao Mario, Hernandez, Arnautovic.
Watford : Karnezis, Holebas, Prodl, Marriappa, Zeegelaar, Doucoure, Capoue, Janmaat, Richarlison, Deulofeu, Deeney.
I’m not sure what to think about the recent signing of Patrice Evra while I think he really was a great player in the past, I’m not sure he still is. But part of me thinks he could be the type of person we need right now. Similar to David Moyes, someone to make sure we get to the end of the season safe and sound. I would love to see us go out and win this game but I think its going to be a drab 1-1 draw which both teams will be happy with. Reverting to a back 4 will give us a bit more of an attacking threat with the return of Antonio and Arnautovic but sadly not enough for today. I would love to be wrong and we win 3-0 I also hear that Kouyate has passed a late fitness test and will start today.
