Points away from home in the Premier League are very hard to get just ask our opponent’s tonight Stoke City. So picking up a point at Stamford Bridge and nearly taking all 3 is a job well done. Moyes does deserve some credit for this, I just wish we could perform like this on a more consistent basis.
It’s nice to see us in a bit of form as it hasn’t happened very often this year and fortunately tonight we play a team on a terrible run of form. They have lost their last 4 games and failed to win since 20th of January where they managed to beat Huddersfield by a couple of goals. By all accounts they have been playing well under new manager Paul Lambert, without getting the results. They do have a decent squad though and more than capable of still bringing West Ham back into the relegation dogfight.
The upturn in results have coincided with the return of Masuaku who has given us much needed balance on the left side of the pitch. A win tonight will as good as cement our place in the Premier league next year and I really hope the players take the opportunity to get it done as soon as possible.
Stoke will be without Maxim-Choupo Moting due to injury and Charlie Adam serves the last of his 3 game ban.
Not sure if it’s good news for West Ham, but by all reports Carroll has been made available for the squad but I’m not going to get excited by his return for obvious reasons. Lanzini on the other hand is someone I am pleased to see return to the squad but due to the form of the team at the moment I expect him to make do with a place on the bench. Cresswell has also recovered from a slight knock last week.
Predicted Line ups:
West Ham United: Hart, Zabaleta, Rice, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Masuaku, Noble, Kouyate, Joao Mario, Arnautovic, Fernandes.
Subs: Hernandez, Hugill, Carroll, Lanzini, Cullen, Evra, Adrian
Stoke City: Butland, Shawcross, Martins Indi, Pieters, Johnson, Ndiaye, Allen, Bauer, Sobhi, Shaqiri, Diouf.
I think an early goal will knock the Stoke players and hopefully spur us on to victory. I will even go as far as predicting we will go on to win the game 4-0 with 2 goals from Hernandez, 1 from Arnautovic and a late one from Lanzini. Stoke will be as good as down after the game and I for one will not miss them.
