West Ham v Brighton – Match Preview

Welcome to 2019 everyone, lets hope January brings us just as much cheer as December did as we look to bounce back from a disappointing day up in Burnley with another win at the London Stadium. Brighton and H.A make the short trip to London for what will hopefully be an entertaining game with West Ham the eventual winners on the day.
The Hammers have been in great form recently winning 4 of our last 6 games although some people have suggested that the hectic fixture list at this time of year, may have had something to do with our poor performance last game out against Burnley. But I also feel it’s the same for most clubs and the real problem is not having everyone fit so that they can be rotated as the manager wishes. When everyone is fit I feel our squad is more than capable of competing. But when is that ever going to happen.
Brighton managed to stop a rot of 4 games without a win last weekend beating Everton 1-0 which they badly needed. No doubt about it Chris Hughton is doing a great job at Brighton keeping them in the Prem is a great achievement. But I do not expect them to be far from the scrap at the bottom of the league at the end of the season.
They sit 2 places and just 2 points behind West Ham and funnily enough 2 goals as well. West Ham in 11th position could move up to 8th position with a win and if other results go our way over the next few days.
The big news for West Ham team wise is obviously the signing of Samir Nasri who has joined the club for an initial 6 month contract and hopefully can make his debut tomorrow or against Birmingham on the weekend. As far as I’m aware he is eligible to play due to being a free agent. Long term injuries include Reid, Sanchez, Lanzini, Wilshire, Yarmolenko, and Fredericks while in the short term Hernandez and Balbuena could return in a week or so.
Brighton are lucky to have playmaker Jose Izquierdo back from injury but Mat Ryan and Jahanbakhsh are on international duty.
Predicted Line ups :
West Ham United : Fabianski, Zabaleta, Diop, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Rice, Obiang, Snodgrass, Anderson, Carroll and Arnautovic.
Brighton And Hove Albion : Button, Montoya, Dunk, Duffy, Bernardo, Propper, Stephens, Gross, Izquierdo, Murray, Locadia.
I fully expect us to win as I always do. Brighton have a terrible record playing in London apart from when they play West Ham I do expect us to win 2-0 with both goals coming from Arnie who should be back in full flow now. Even when not fully fit he gives us a better chance than playing the ineffective Perez who I would hope takes his place on the bench from now on. The return of Zabaleta is also a big lift for the team.
