The season has not been a complete waste of time after all. Beating Tottenham away in their shiny new stadium has gone down in the history books and I bloody love it. But that’s enough about them. Tomorrow Southampton come to town for our last home game of the season.
Ralph Hasenhuttl has very much steadied the ship down at the Saints, who looked in a bad way with previous manager Mark Hughes. But now that they have secured their place in the Premier League next year thanks to a 3-3 draw with Bournemouth last game out. I’m hoping they are still celebrating and really don’t fancy turning up tomorrow.
Us on the other hand still have a top 10 finish to fight over. So hopefully the guys kept the celebrations of last weekend to a minimum. In 11th place with 56 points we are 4 behind Watford who we play in the last game of the season. It’s been a long time since we have won two games in a row back in December actually, I expect that to change and we make it 3 by the end of the season.
Southampton will be missing Yoshida and Vestergaard from their matchday squad.
On the injury front things have not been so good for the Hammers this season. Noble and Arnie have both got over there knocks from the weekend but also Lanzini, Nasri and even Sanchez have over come injuries and could well be involved. Reid, Carroll and Yarmolenko are all still missing, Snodgrass is suspended and unfortunately Declan Rice misses his first game since the early part of the season with a virus, as does Felipe Anderson, both failed late fitness tests.
Predicted Line ups :
West Ham United : Fabianski, Fredericks, Diop, Balbuena, Masuaku, Noble, Obiang, Lanzini, Diangana, Antonio and Arnautovic.
Southampton : Gunn, Bertrand, Stephens, Bednarek, Valery, Hojbjerg, Romeu, Redmond, Long, Ward-Prowse and Ings
This fixture last season, I sat with 2 of my best mates on the south coast of Spain and watched us smash them in a stunning 1st half display with 2 of the goals coming from Arnie and the other from Joao Mario. I think tomorrow will be similar and we rush into a healthy 1st half lead but only this time I expect us to get another in the 2nd. 4-0 to West Ham with Arnie getting 2 again Antonio and Lanzini getting the other goals.
